Onward!

Onward! Serves as a simple oracle for solo or cooperative story telling.

Players begin with 2 6-sided dice, and take turns asking questions. For each yes or no question they ask, they may roll the dice to find an answer, either "yes", "no", "yes but", "yes and", or "no and".

Onward! walks players through 3 phases:

Setting: Players ask questions to dive deep into the setting of their story.

Characters: Players ask questions to define the characters they will focus on.

Conflict: Players ask questions to create conflicts that their characters must face. After each conflict is defined, players ask whether the characters reasonable attempts to overcome that conflict work out, or if everything just gets worse.

Just as a conflict comes to its conclusion, a player can shout "Onward!" and begin a new conflict, keeping the story going.

Onward! lends itself to fast, unexpected, and often silly games. There is no required prep, and no "Game Master".

Onward! Can also be used in junction with other TTRPGs, such as Take Courage! to act as a GM aid or, with a creative group of players, replacement.
